On the First Day

A swirling vortex swirls clouds
into curls of orange hues, white
tendrils erupt in all directions
with an out-of-control fervor,
throwing clouds of star dust
flying through utter blackness.

This cosmic inferno erupts
but then puddles into a reservoir
of immense power, defying
the void’s borderless night,
and glazing the pottery of
planets with verity.

If ignored, a cosmic fire grows cold
if unnoticed, it turns into an ember;
but He is ready to re-ignite
that campfire calling us to gather,
protect, feed and sing.

Fingers carefully pull Earth away
from Sol, taking a tendril
of cosmic energy with it
until it breaks, flickers away,
leaving just a tingle.
And with a little nudge,
Earth begins to spin and
orbit its its big brother -–the Sun.

And God says, “let’s begin”
